Deciding on a photographer
Choosing a photographer can be a bit of a lucky dip (or unlucky)
To make an effective choice look at their portfolio and consider some key questions:
Can they produce creative work while also remaining focused on the product or service
(a photographer who is both artistic AND practical is a rare specimen)
Does the product photographed look great? You would be amazed at how many different
ways something can be photographed- a dramatically different product appearance can
be created with skilful lighting.
Can they consistently produce high quality work? -many photographers fluke the
odd good shot or spend days redoing a portfolio photograph until it is faultless.
But can they produce this same quality on a job for you.
Look at published photographs- genuine work, with actual products and real timeframes.
The photograph(left) was done for an oven manufacturer
This new high performance turbo-fan produced much
improved performance and efficiency, over competitors.
The lower photo was done using standard above camera
lighting to illustrate how a dramatic difference is possible.
So the fan in reality was unimpressive looking, but placing
the fan behind it's stainless steel oven baffle and by using
creative lighting and angles, the result created an impressive
product impression, with a blue tint for a high-tech feel.
